Casualty, is a British medical drama that airs on BBC One. Having been on the air for over 30 years, it is the longest-running prime time medical drama in the world. It was created by Jeremy Brock and Paul Unwin and was first broadcast on 6 September 1986. The programme is set in the fictional city of Holby and focuses on the staff and patients at Holby City Hospital’s emergency department.

James plays Archie Grayling is a surgical consultant who works at Holby General Hospital. He is the father of junior doctor Sebastian Grayling. James appeared in 2 episodes: 9 – Regrets and episode 11 – Welcome Dr. Rash.

In October 2017, Lily applied for a post on a project Archie was running researching geriatric neurology. The following week, after he was impressed by her application, he offered her the post. She initially declined the offer but, after her boyfriend Iain broke up with her, she changed her mind. The following month, Lily pitched the project but thought she botched it after becoming distracted. Archie was later furious when he found out that Lily had been asked to lead the project rather than him.
